ABOUT MAZ

Marilyn began her career in 2010 as a Floor Runner and advanced to 2nd Assistant Director, working on various HETV dramas and feature films. In 2015, she stepped away to become a full-time mum, returning in 2019 to write, produce, and direct her debut feature film, CONNECT, which premiered at the Glasgow Film Festival and received a limited cinematic release, funded by Screen Scotland.

In 2021, Marilyn was invited to shadow on BBC's Scottish continuing drama, RIVER CITY and has since directed six episodes. In 2024 she completed her first block of ITV's award-winning continuing drama EMMERDALE and will be returning for another block in 2025.

Additionally, Marilyn has shadowed on two HETV shows.  She shadowed PIER WILKIE on the acclaimed sci-fi drama THE LAZARUS PROJECT in Wales.  Marilyn also participated in the ScreenNETS Director's Programme, where she shadowed Rachel Leiterman on Apple TV's period drama THE BUCCANEERS and was honoured to shoot 2nd Unit.

It is on set that Marilyn really shines and this is largely due to her confident and easy-going nature.  I found her ability to make the cast feel at ease reflected upon the crew and contributed to a pleasant working environment.  Whenever time was short Maz was able to think on her feet and quickly replan a scene, allowing us to complete our daily schedules.

1st Assistant Director - River City

Maz is an incredibly supportive and collaborative director.  It was a joy to work with a director who not only brought out the best in the project but also in the people around her.
